1.Sunifiram (development code name DM-235) is an experimental drug that has anti-epileptic effects in animal studies and is significantly more potent than piracetam. Sunifiram is a molecular simplification of unifiram (DM-232). Another analog is sapunifiram (MN-19). As of 2016, sunifram has not been toxicologically tested nor has it been subjected to any human clinical trial nor has it been approved for use anywhere in the world.

2.Sunifiram (DM-235) is a synthetic derivative of piracetam, although it no longer belongs to the class of simethicin due to breaking the pyrrolidone skeleton (although derived from them is still often associated with this class of drugs related).

3.Sunifiram has a similar mechanism to nefiracetam in the hippocampus and is similar to the anti-dementia nature shown by sunifiram and may be a cognitive enhancer. Its anti-dementia activity is several orders of magnitude more than piracetam, with preliminary evidence of similar low toxicity.

4.Since AMPA receptors, one of the three major subsets of glutamate receptors, play a major part with NDMA and kainate, this compound is called AMPAkine. This enhancement of AMPA function also appears to rely on enhanced signaling through the glycine binding site of the NMDA receptor, and the effect on AMPA receptors appears to be dose-dependent despite minimal signaling through the NMDA receptor.
